Found on a dirt road in the middle of no where. . . .

I guess I now know who to complain to when the maintenance of the DIRT road isn't up to snuff!

Still not sure what number to call though . . . . .

Obnoxious American

So, as I mentioned before, it's the end of term. A time of stress and exhaustion. And frankly, the easiest person for me to be when tired and exhausted here is the Obnoxious American. Stereotyping is huge here (seriously, I made it out lucky being American, good luck if you are from Brampton!) - and that is the one that I get saddled with. Frankly, it's an easy role to fill - especially when tired - I get loud and defensive very easily  - include random trash talking sprinkled with references to America and that's pretty much it in a nutshell :). But as easy a role it is to fill - I know exactly how everyone will react, no surprises, i'm sick of it.

Think I can wake up tomorrow and pretend to be something else that can be easily stereotyped? I might have the energy to pull it off . . .

Reality Check

It isn't like I forget that i'm in Canada . . . I just sometimes I slip into old habits without even realizing.

Today I was in the kitchen when some of the bars of the national anthem drifted through the open window (yes it is shockingly that warm here) and it was quite a while before I realized I was trying to fit the wrong (american) set of words to it in my head.

Then I switched to the Canadian words and the song was much easier to fit to the music. :)

Luck

Last week I was given a fortune from a Chinese fortune cookie: "You tend to draw out the love in others"

On the back there was no Chinese and no lucky numbers, only French.

Red Leaf photo post!

Hey all, I went on a fantastic hike yesterday and took no photos! Today I am hitting the books (or really "the computer" these days) so don't have time for a big post. Instead I leave you with this:

Photo Post!

It is pouring outside now . . . .but this morning it looked like this as I walked to the library:

foggy morning

Comfortingly foggy. I made it to the library and back before the rain started and spent a quiet day reading (granted it is still the middle of the day . . . but I plan to continue to read).

On a brighter note I leave you with this red leaf photo from my favorite money sink store here:

First Day of Classes!

While I am in my one meeting and class (finally!) of the day I leave you with these random thoughts:

1. Pickle Doritos are nasty, I would not recommend them.

2. Last night I dreamed that "they" decided to film King Kong on the the street where I grew up early in the morning and didn't tell anyone. So I woke up and thought I saw a black bear in the backyard which turned out to be an even larger Gorilla. Panic and comedic hi-jinx ensued (including a car chase with five wrecked cars).

3. I might be allergic to Canada, or I am getting a cold, or the rebellion that I cannot quell in my digestive system has spread to my nasal passages. I suppose I can only really wait and see how it plays out.

4. I remembered I could check books out for a term yesterday and so immediately checked out four "background reading" books utterly unrelated to Geography. Book reviews forthcoming if they are worth it. Today I plan to check out books on topic. I think i'm addicted to books.
