Today was our local Santa Claus parade - I went to enjoy it along with all the small children in the area. Before the pictures - though you may think it is the same as an American Thanksgiving parade because it is filled with floats, bands, local groups, and politicians with Santa at the end - you would be WRONG! They are different because the WHOLE THING is christmas themed. In short, it was fantastic.

Here comes the parade down the road - i'm still on crutches so most of the shots (from now on) look as if I am sitting on the ground - because I was sitting on a curb!

parade!

The best part of any parade: pipe band! And they were playing jingle bells!!
bagpipes

I think it has to do with a nativity scene, but this is the first time (I think) i've seen a live camel in a parade:

It is not a canadian police force if they aren't on horses (kidding!)
RCMP

This was the best float - and like most, it was pulled by a tractor
beaver

It has creepy human like hands though - Also, it's authentic! ;)

These are people dressed as the mittens (!) from the last olympic games - it seems everyone here owns a pair of these! Not sure why you would dress as them though.

The last photo (trust me it took some effort to pare it down this much!!) is of this cute tradition. Every town (even the tiny ones) has a santa claus parade around this time of year. Before Santa in the parade is the Postal Service (Canada Post) who pick up your letter from Santa (from your hand!) and promise to give it to him and promise you a letter back (!!) How adorable!!!! Ok, I really wish I could have gone to this type of parade in my childhood!
